In 2004, FabricWorks Studio was started as an art studio specializing in
fabric-related products created with modern designs. Through the use of
color, texture and movement, FabricWorks Studio offers customers uniquely
stunning, one-of-a-kind creations for their homes and office spaces.
FabricWorks Studio was created by Angela Heath, a self-taught North Carolina fabric artist who enjoys designing and creating modern works of fabric. (Shown: Tuscany wall hanging) In her own words, she writes:
I consider myself a very “visual” and “visceral” artist in that I first have to “see” and “feel” the work to get an idea of what to do. I use a lot of “gut instinct” while working on pieces. This instinct guides me, tells me when I’m on the right or wrong paths and also when I’m finished.
As a young girl I had many fabric-related hobbies; making fabric-based art was just one of them. First, I crocheted large bed afghans and throw blankets for family and friends. After developing carpal tunnel in my hands, I learned to sew on a sewing machine. I figured, “let the machine do all of the work!”
Through my art, I strive to explore the use repetition, line, texture and color. I am drawn to opportunities that allow me to translate the abstract into simple compositions that speak to the viewer. Being creative keeps me grounded in my life and gives me an outlet to be happy and play in. In a creative environment — I can breathe; I can think; and I can be.
